July 11th, 2012 (Wednesday), MN to Turtle Lake, WI

Miles biked - 60.5 Ride time 5 hrs 8 min Average Speed – 11.8 mph IMG_1157
We left our hotel this morning at 6:32am with comfortable temperatures starting out. It wasn't long and it started to heat up. We had about 37 miles to bike to get to the Wisconsin border. We crossed into Wisconsin by St Croix Falls and if you have ever been to this area you will appreciate the climb we had getting out of the valley and on our way to Turtle Lake. About 5 miles before we arrived in Turtle Lake we were just a pedaling along on busy Hwy 8 when we had a semi-truck pull over about a block or so ahead of us. As we got close the driver got out of the semi and here it was our son Mike. What a pleasant surprise and we hugged and visited a few minutes before he had to get back to work and we needed to finish biking the last 5 miles to our hotel. It was definitely our hilliest day yet on this trip.

Our plan is to bicycle to Holcombe tomorrow and stay over night at Rita and Larry's and then bike home on Friday! We are having a wonderful time and have met some very interesting people once again! Life is good!
