9-4-2012 (Tuesday) Post Ride in Wisconsin Dells, WI

Road 35 miles today

Average mile per hour - 12.8

Ride time - 2 hours and 43 minutes

After breakfast the 18 couples attending the Post Ride in Wisconsin Dells were instructed to meet outside at 8:45AM as the Chamber of Commerce was going to be coming to take everyone's picture before we started our ride today. After that was done everyone got on their bikes and we all headed for a beautiful 35 mile ride to Baraboo and then back to the Dells. There was hardly a cloud in the sky with very little wind so it made for a very pleasant ride. We spent quite a bit of time riding with Bill and Dana Brown today and the four of us stopped at a little old time "Diner" in Baraboo for beverages and ice cream before we headed back to the Dells.

Once we arrived back at the hotel quite a few of us put on our swimsuits and went for a refreshing dip in the pool. What a great way to spend an afternoon. Around 4:00PM five couples walked down to the local diner for dinner and then everyone met at the Upper Dells dock to take a boat tour. That was really interesting and fascinating to see and hear all about the upper dells. We lucked out because about 3/4 of the way through the tour it started to rain but we had already seen the major attractions on this tour and so we headed back to the dock.  Once everyone was back at the hotel a group of us sat outside and visited before calling it a night.

Another great day! We will have one more day with this group and then on Thursday we will say goodbye and continue on our journey to Baton Rouge, LA!

The VeerKamp's and Esser's have done a wonderful job of organizing this post rally.  The hotel is in a wonderful location, clean rooms, nice pool, and a wonderful area to sit and relax at.  Today's route was very scenic and we bicycled right through the heart of the Dells and fortunately there was very little traffic.
